School of Theatre & Dance premieres
Emerging Choreographers Showcase
at Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts
University of Houston Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts School of Theatre & Dance (SoTD) premieres “Emerging Choreographers Showcase” (ECS) on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 8 p.m., at Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, in the heart of Downtown’s Theater District. “Emerging Choreographers Showcase” is the only college concert that is fully produced and designed in a professional setting by current School of Theatre & Dance students as they prepare for a career in the arts.
While “Emerging Choreographers Showcase” highlights the next generation of performers, the concert has a long standing reputation of presenting high quality works that meet professional standards. Many of the budding choreographers have taken the initiative to make their mark in the local Houston dance scene by producing their work professionally at local festivals, like Dance Source Houston’s Barnstorm Dance Fest, “Mind The Gap,” Artist-in-Residence program, as well as Pilot Dance Project’s Houston Fringe Festival.
